#4 Muse - The Drones World Tour 1/13/2016

muse

Muse will be making a stop in Chicago on their world tour this January for one of the biggest shows of the new year. If you’ve had the privilege of catching a Muse show live you know they are known for their insane set up. This tour will be no different featuring a full 360 stage in the center of the United Center. English rockers, Muse will no doubt be playing to a sold out crowd singing along to every word of their songs.

#3 Chicago Blackhawks vs. St. Louis Blues 1/24/2016

Blackhawks-Blues

This 6pm Sunday puck drop vs. Central Division rivals will be a loud one at the Madhouse on Madison. The Hawks are battling for points in a tough Western Conference and this match up vs. the Blues will be a big one. Expect Jim Cornelison to be at the top of his game with a loud anthem that you won’t want to miss. The UC will be rocking all January with the likes of Muse and Black Sabbath but on the 24th it’ll be all Chelsea Dagger as the Hawks look to gain some ground in a tight race for the Central.

#2 Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band 1/19/2016

springsteen

The Boss will be playing all of the hits including The River, Badlands, Thunder Roads, Born in The U.S.A etc… This will be a show for all ages and Bruce will not disappoint. Hailing from New Jersey, The Boss is a working class guy who will play into the blue collar Midwestern crowd at the United Center in Chicago, Illinois. The River tour is a 9 week US Tour with stops in Chicago, New York, LA and everywhere in between. If you live in the Chicago area note: The Boss will also be in Milwaukee, WI 3/3/16.

#1 Chicago Bulls vs. The Golden State Warriors 1/20/2016

bulls

Stephan Curry and the Golden State Warriors are on a roll this year and have their sights set on the Bulls 1995/1996 72-10 season. Some say the record is unbreakable (we agree) however the GSW are on pace to give Jordan and the crew a run for their money. The Warriors started the season with an impressive 23 straight wins giving them almost 1/3 of the wins necessary to take the Bulls record. This match up on the 20th is sure to be a big game as the Bulls will be looking to hand the Warriors one of their few losses of the season. Look for a big game out of Jimmy Butler, Derrick Rose and Steph Curry. The Bulls need to hand Steph Curry and the Warriors a loss if they want to keep the legacy of that 72 win season in Chicago!

Join us at The Ogden Chicago, the closest bar and restaurant to The United Center. We’re just 0.4 miles from the UC and offer valet parking for all Blackhawks, Bulls games and concerts. Reservations are available for all events HERE!

Cirque du Soleil returns to The United Center with, KURIOS: Cabinet of Curiosities

*Cirque du Soleil returns to Chicago from August 6th - September 20th 2015, after a four year break. From TheUnitedCenter.com:

Premiering under the iconic blue-and-yellow Big Top beginning August 6, 2015. Written and directed by Michel Laprise, KURIOS – Cabinet of Curiosities is a tale in which time comes to a complete stop, transporting the audience inside a fantasy world where everything is possible. In this realm set in the latter half of the nineteenth century, reality is quite relative indeed as our perception of it is utterly transformed. The name of the show refers to the humble and strange characters that inhabit the Seeker’s Cabinet of Curiosities.

Chicago Eater: Four Restaurants and Bars to Try This Weekend in Chicago

Thanks to The Chicago Reader for the great article: “Four Restaurants and Bars to Try This Weekend in Chicago

We’re certainly gearing up for Game 2 tonight and we agree, when the Chicago Blackhawks are on the road we’re still one of the hottest places in town to watch the game!

From Jeffy Mai of The Chicago Eater:

No, the Blackhawks won’t be playing at home on Saturday night but that doesn’t mean you can’t head down to the Near West Side to cheer them on. The Ogden, located blocks away from the United Center, is a “chef-driven sports bar” and bound to be one of the hottest places to watch the action. As one of the official Blackhawks bars, there’ll be a lively game day atmosphere, a sea of red jerseys and even the sounds of Chelsea Dagger and goal horns to get you pumped up. The menu contains the usual array of bar food with highlights including their famous animal fries topped with pulled pork, cheese curds, giardiniera and a sunny side up egg, as well as some juicy black angus burgers. The beer list is also surprisingly impressive, boasting more than 50 different types of craft brews in bottles, cans or on tap. If you can’t be in Tampa for the game, this isn’t a bad consolation. Are The Chicago Blackhawks Gearing Up For Back-To-Back Stanley Cups?

One of the hardest feats in sports is the repeat, especially in the free agency era. The last NHL team to repeat was the Detroit Red Wings at the turn of the century. The Blackhawks are poised to make a long run in the playoffs and have as good a chance as anyone to hoist that cup this spring.

The first thing that stands out is Chicago’s defense. It’s what carried them last year and it’s rounding into form again this year. Statistically they are right below the league average, but that doesn’t take into account how they work as a team. They’ll tighten it up as the playoffs begin. Count on it.

Even though they stood pat at this year’s trade deadline, the Blackhawks are a balanced team. With Patrick Kane and Jonathan Toews providing the start power, Hossa, Sharp, and Keith can fill in the elements of a solid team. Corey Crawford is having a solid year in goal. There was no need to make any moves at the deadline because every other team is really chasing the Blackhawks.

The hangover produced by competing in Sochi is going to be hard on all the contenders. Sure, six Blackhawks played in the gold medal round. Patrick Kane might be hurting from his medal round flameout. St. Louis only sent one fewer player to the Olympics, however. Pittsburgh took its fair share of lumps to make the games happen. No one is going to be able to use Sochi as an excuse for playoff failure.

The Blackhawks are only a couple of points out of first. Seven of their next ten games are at the United Center. It seems like the perfect time to make a move into the catbird seat of the Western Conference Playoffs. The road gets a lot easier if your guaranteed home ice throughout the playoffs.

At The Ogden Chicago, we watch every Blackhawks game with an eagle eye. We get the gossip from Blackhawks fans coming to and from the United Center just a couple of blocks away. There is a big home stand coming up in March and we’ll be serving craft beers and great food to any Blackhawk fan looking for fun near the United Center. The Ogden Chicago has its money on a Blackhawks repeat in 2014.

McDonald’s All America High School Basketball Game Comes To The United Center

This year’s McDonald’s All American High School Basketball Game is being held April 2 at the United Center. The game returns to Chicago, which is fitting, as many of the legends that have passed through the game are from here. It’s a chance to see legends born. We, at The Ogden Chicago have welcomed fans, friends, and family before, during, and after the game since Chicago became the permanent residence of the game.

The girls game is played first at 6 PM local time. The boys game is scheduled shortly afterward at 830. The girls game has grown in prestige and competitiveness every year it has been played.

This is the fourth straight year that Chicago will be hosting the game. It’s the 37th iteration of the boys event and the 12th of the girls. The games are also charity events with proceeds from tickets going to the Ronald McDonald House Charities.

Chicago has always been well represented in the games. Isaiah Thomas played in an early game and was followed by players like Derrick Rose, Kevin Garnett, Jalen Rose, and Jabari Parker. Michael Jordan played before he went on to become arguably the greatest player in history for the Bulls. Virtually every start of the past forty years has used the game as a rite of passage. The first inkling the average fan has about these players comes from seeing this game.

Bulls fans and Blackhawks fans already know that The Ogden Chicago is the go to restaurant and bar when you’re attending an event at the United Center. Just two blocks away from the venue, The Ogden Chicago is a foodie paradise. The menu is designed to supplement our extensive craft beer menu. We also have 23 flat screen TVs for the every sporting event.
